When you look around your home, you’ll realize there are in-between spaces where much of life happens. The obstacle to giving these spaces a refresh is that they are spaces we need to use. It becomes easy to put off doing anything new to them for that one reason.

An entryway is the space that extends a warm “welcome home” to your family at the end of a long day away and a sincere “we’re glad you’re here” to the people invited into your sanctuary. The entry provides a glimpse into the life we live within our own four walls. And if, at times, it reveals a bit too much about us, that’s okay too. When we’re authentic, we invite our guests to be themselves. That’s hospitality at its best.

Since our early years of marriage, my husband and I have utilized what we affectionately call a “cleaning frenzy” to give our home a quick makeover during the day. A frenzy can last ten minutes or a full hour. We like to do at least one a day—two is even better. 

Everyone can participate, including the kids.

I know the feeling. As a busy woman, trying to keep up a home can feel overwhelming, to say the least. When our house is a mess, we feel even more out of control. It can be a discouraging cycle. I know, because I've been there!
